Each year the Marine Corps University Foundation honors an American of distinction with its Semper Fidelis Award. Presented annually at the Foundation’s black-tie dinner, the award honors a leader who exemplifies high principles and dedicated service to our country. This year’s 2008 recipient was Mr. Robert S. Mueller, III, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James T. Conway, was the Military Guest of Honor.
For the fourth year, MCUF Trustee Mr. Donald R. Knauss was the Dinner Chairman and, for the second year, The Clorox Company was the Dinner Sponsor. Mr. Knauss is the Chairman and CEO of The Clorox Company and has served on the Marine Corps University Foundation’s Board of Trustees since 2002.
Approximately 500 guests attended the event held at the Sheraton Premiere Hotel at Tysons Corner, Virginia. The Foundation’s Trustees, former Commandants of the Marine Corps, U.S. Department of Defense officials, many of the Washington area Marine Corps' senior leadership and many leaders from the private sector were among the guests.
